The relationship between Tantra Yoga and Esoteric Astrology could be compared to the relationship between the tree and one of its leaves.

There is no complete understanding of Astrology without the understanding of the ancient teachings of Yoga and especially the Tantric Tradition.

Yoga is the ancient spiritual science of life. It teaches how to reach the highest form of fulfillment or in other words to reach union with the divine essence. This is the very meaning of the word Yoga. Union.

Tantra Yoga describes the oldest root of the Yogic Teachings and divides into three fundamental approaches to reach such union.
the left-handed path, the right-handed path and the path of the middle.
The left handed path uses the realm of manifestation and energy (Å akti) to reach the highest forms of self realization.
The right handed path uses the realm of awareness, and direct transcendence (Å iva) to reach the highest forms of self-realization.

The path of the middle is the most direct path and is described in the Kashmir Shaivism tradition as the path of Kaula. It uses the unity of the left handed and right handed path to reach the ultimate self realization. The unity of Å iva and Å akti.

Esoteric Astrology and Tantric Yoga

Esoteric Astrology can be described as a tool to navigate through the labyrinth of creation. But also with the ultimate goal to reach a deeper recognition of the soul and the self (Sanskrit: ATMAN).
Thus we can clearly see that Astrology is a tool that belongs to the left handed path of Tantra Yoga. Using the understanding of the energies on the astral layer of existence (manomaya kosha) to receive a road map of the path towards a higher consciousness and ultimately to go beyond the astral layer into deeper levels of self realization.
